| An exciting day for Alloa as the first passenger train for just over 40 years departs from the new station for Stirling. Needless to say the first train was for invited guests and VIP's, but why would that spoil the fun! Both the K2 and Deltic were looking in fine form and certainly departed in style. The K4 had the safety valves lifting, the whistle shrieking, cylinder cocks blasting steam and lovely black smoke for being emitted so the fireman could get a rocket! | Alloa station looking pristine on the Saturday before the opening. The new station is on a different site from the old one. On the video on the left the train disappears under a multi-arch bridge. The original station was apparently the other side of that bridge. The arches to to the right of the bridge in the video are where the lines were for the Devon Valley line on to Kinross. The flats on the left side of this picture are built on the site of the former engine shed. | |

| Gresley K4 2-6-0 No 61994 'The Great Marquess' sits quietly simmering away as the passengers board the train for the first trip | At the rear of the train is Deltic 55022 'Royal Scots Grey' doing what these engines always did - make the most fantastic throbbing noise. | |
